It's short and exciting。Matias the serious and Ramona his sworn enemy meet face to face under less than ideal circumstances。。。 MUCH less。。。Their adulterous spouses have decided to run off with their life's work。 A life's work that could make or break their families and will also give the winner extraordinary powers of violence。The world building is top notch， but the short format doesn't allow for a lot of depth in the characters。 Still， they are admirable characters and had me wrapped around th It's short and exciting。Matias the serious and Ramona his sworn enemy meet face to face under less than ideal circumstances。。。 MUCH less。。。Their adulterous spouses have decided to run off with their life's work。 A life's work that could make or break their families and will also give the winner extraordinary powers of violence。The world building is top notch， but the short format doesn't allow for a lot of depth in the characters。 Still， they are admirable characters and had me wrapped around their fingers。 I like that there's enough science to make it science fiction and not fantasy。I listened to the audiobook and the reader was fabulous。And I gotta say， nobody does retribution like Ilona Andrews！ Safety is good。 （view spoiler）[They are both married at the start so even though they are attracted to each other， it was more their married status than that their families are enemies， that stopped them from acting on that attraction。 So no hanky panky til the end ; ） （hide spoiler）] 。。。more

Amazing writerLove all the twists and turns its romantic without page after page of sex scenes。 Her characters are very real ，funny and interesting。 I would recommend these to older readers though has allot of fighting and deaths。 I am looking for more of these two this cannot be the end of their story！

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Closer to 4。5。 But I loved the intrigue， the fighting， the Romeo & Juliet dynamic， world building， and of course the chemistry。 It was fun。 But also it could have benefited from some more build up， a longer story， a bigger timeline。 The villains were baddies， we were told this， but， except for at the very end， the MCs never interacted with them so it never really felt like I had any skin in the game。 I disliked them but never really hated them。 And I like when the villains see how bad they screw Closer to 4。5。 But I loved the intrigue， the fighting， the Romeo & Juliet dynamic， world building， and of course the chemistry。 It was fun。 But also it could have benefited from some more build up， a longer story， a bigger timeline。 The villains were baddies， we were told this， but， except for at the very end， the MCs never interacted with them so it never really felt like I had any skin in the game。 I disliked them but never really hated them。 And I like when the villains see how bad they screwed up， messing with the wrong people， and we saw this a little， but I’m vengeful， I want more！ But that’s just me。 And OF COURSE a more flushed out epilogue。 I needed more （I always do） of the reactions and coming to terms from the side characters。 Also a longer look into their HEA and the harmony they finally find in their marriage。 Ugh these endings leave me wanting so much more！ I’m greedy， give me more。 。。。more

Ilona Andrews does it again。Right from the first pages this story pulled me in。 Their writing makes you feel how the people in the story feel， how the surroundings look and smell and why things happen。 The history of the two sides in the story give you a sense of their thinking but then it makes you route for them to win。 I love their conversations in all their books and look forward to my next book from whatever series they produce next。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 I started this book looking forward to a short appearance by the Escanas， but there were unfortunately none。 I was in the beginnings of a book slump yesterday， and this book brought my right out of it。 I’ve been saving this up for the rainy days。 The romantic scenes happened at around 95+% because the MC was a little bit busy with their survival。 They’re both secare， meaning their bloodlines have been been historically engineered to be like semi-wolverines but with the weapons and shields coming I started this book looking forward to a short appearance by the Escanas， but there were unfortunately none。 I was in the beginnings of a book slump yesterday， and this book brought my right out of it。 I’ve been saving this up for the rainy days。 The romantic scenes happened at around 95+% because the MC was a little bit busy with their survival。 They’re both secare， meaning their bloodlines have been been historically engineered to be like semi-wolverines but with the weapons and shields coming out of their forearms。 The physical combat was heavy in this book。 I preferred the psychers and Meli’s laser stuff。 Silver Shark is my fave from the series， and this is the least。 。。。more

Exciting， Endearing， and Fun Adventure RomanceI don’t know why this book hasn’t gotten more love， I thought it was wonderful。 Along the lines of the Hidden Legacies series by the same authors， but with a sci-fi twist。 Short， but very sweet！ I want to enter this world again and follow these characters through the universes they inhabit to see what battles they fight for the sake of love and humanity！
