Summary

An uneasy alliance between warring families gets heated in this otherworldly novella from bestselling author Ilona Andrews。

At first glance, the planet Rada seems like a lush paradise。 But the ruling families, all boasting genetically enhanced abilities, are in constant competition for power―and none more so than the Adlers and the Baenas。 For generations, the powerful families have pushed and pulled each other in a dance for dominance。

Until a catastrophic betrayal from within changes everything。

Now, deadly, disciplined, and solitary leaders Ramona Adler and Matias Baena must put aside their enmity and work together in secret to prevent sinister forces from exploiting universe-altering technology。 Expecting to suffer through their uneasy alliance, Ramona and Matias instead discover that they understand each other as no one in their families can―and that their combined skills may eclipse the risks of their forbidden alliance。

As the two warriors risk their lives to save their families, they must decide whether to resist or embrace the passion simmering between them。 For now, the dance between their families continues―but just one misstep could spell the end of them both。

Great book!I love the Kinsmen universe。 The books are all quick reads but you feel like you are living in a different reality。 Action, great characters and a really fleshed out world all work together for an entertaining read。 Can't wait for the next one。 Great book!I love the Kinsmen universe。 The books are all quick reads but you feel like you are living in a different reality。 Action, great characters and a really fleshed out world all work together for an entertaining read。 Can't wait for the next one。 。。。more

Audiobook review: Enemies, frenemies, to romantic interest along with plenty of action to keep my wayward attention! Love the characters and the story building! The narrator did a good job too!

Another great book in this series I love, just wish this was longer。

Captivating and deepI'm a huge fan of this author and her books are always satisfying。 This is no exception。 The story is interesting and I'd love a sequel。 The tech and sci-fy are on point and believable and the protagonists personalities are really intriguing。 Don't pass this one up。 Captivating and deepI'm a huge fan of this author and her books are always satisfying。 This is no exception。 The story is interesting and I'd love a sequel。 The tech and sci-fy are on point and believable and the protagonists personalities are really intriguing。 Don't pass this one up。 。。。more

The plot-line of this book is good but the delivery is lacking Ilona Andrews’ usual flair。

Lots of fun。 I enjoyed the premise and the pacing。

It's short and exciting。Matias the serious and Ramona his sworn enemy meet face to face under less than ideal circumstances。。。 MUCH less。。。Their adulterous spouses have decided to run off with their life's work。 A life's work that could make or break their families and will also give the winner extraordinary powers of violence。The world building is top notch, but the short format doesn't allow for a lot of depth in the characters。 Still, they are admirable characters and had me wrapped around th It's short and exciting。Matias the serious and Ramona his sworn enemy meet face to face under less than ideal circumstances。。。 MUCH less。。。Their adulterous spouses have decided to run off with their life's work。 A life's work that could make or break their families and will also give the winner extraordinary powers of violence。The world building is top notch, but the short format doesn't allow for a lot of depth in the characters。 Still, they are admirable characters and had me wrapped around their fingers。 I like that there's enough science to make it science fiction and not fantasy。I listened to the audiobook and the reader was fabulous。And I gotta say, nobody does retribution like Ilona Andrews! Safety is good。 (view spoiler)[They are both married at the start so even though they are attracted to each other, it was more their married status than that their families are enemies, that stopped them from acting on that attraction。 So no hanky panky til the end ; ) (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

Fast paced and fun。 Both the main characters were intense alpha types which made their interactions full of excitement。Violence。 Sex。 Swearing。

Amazing writerLove all the twists and turns its romantic without page after page of sex scenes。 Her characters are very real ,funny and interesting。 I would recommend these to older readers though has allot of fighting and deaths。 I am looking for more of these two this cannot be the end of their story!

But that’s just me。 And OF COURSE a more flushed out epilogue。 I needed more (I always do) of the reactions and coming to terms from the side characters。 Also a longer look into their HEA and the harmony they finally find in their marriage。 Ugh these endings leave me wanting so much more! I’m greedy, give me more。 。。。more

I'm running out of Ilona Andrews' books and that makes me sad。。。 This is their newest novella and I really enjoyed it a lot (no surprise here)。 This one really expanded the Kinsmen universe a lot, but I have to say。。。 it's not my favourite。 My biggest complain is that the ending was a little bit too rushed, I think it's because the authors felt that they already crossed their word limit, so they were just trying to wrap everything quickly, but。。。 they just made me count pages and all the things I'm running out of Ilona Andrews' books and that makes me sad。。。 This is their newest novella and I really enjoyed it a lot (no surprise here)。 This one really expanded the Kinsmen universe a lot, but I have to say。。。 it's not my favourite。 My biggest complain is that the ending was a little bit too rushed, I think it's because the authors felt that they already crossed their word limit, so they were just trying to wrap everything quickly, but。。。 they just made me count pages and all the things that needed to happen on them and that made me deeply stressed out, which made the whole ending less satisfying。 The whole dynamic was otherwise amazing, I even enjoyed the forbidden love trope, which isn't my top favourite。 Both Matias and Ramona are - again - of course amazing, but。。。 in the end Silver Shark is still a fave。 Aside from the rushed ending this book doesn't really have any flaws, it's just my personal preference。。。 。。。more

Ilona Andrews does it again。Right from the first pages this story pulled me in。 Their writing makes you feel how the people in the story feel, how the surroundings look and smell and why things happen。 The history of the two sides in the story give you a sense of their thinking but then it makes you route for them to win。 I love their conversations in all their books and look forward to my next book from whatever series they produce next。

I thought this was gonna be a great read, it's Ilona Andrews afterall so I thought this was a no-brainer but sadly it didn't live up to my expectations。 The plot was ok, it was interesting and gripping but everything else was kind of blah。 The book wasn't necessarily bad--the authors always craft a well-written story--but I wasn't connecting to the characters 。 And I really hate insta love/lust in all shapes and forms and declaring love after a week defenitely falls in this category。 I think the I thought this was gonna be a great read, it's Ilona Andrews afterall so I thought this was a no-brainer but sadly it didn't live up to my expectations。 The plot was ok, it was interesting and gripping but everything else was kind of blah。 The book wasn't necessarily bad--the authors always craft a well-written story--but I wasn't connecting to the characters 。 And I really hate insta love/lust in all shapes and forms and declaring love after a week defenitely falls in this category。 I think the story would have worked better as a full-length novel so that there was more time to flesh out Matias, Ramona, and their relationship。 Instead, everything felt shallow。 I'm sad to say this but this novella was very underwhelming。 。。。more

Being the longest novel in the series, this story was the most developed and intriguing in the series。 The main characters are A-type personalities and equally powerful。 Both share the same responsibilities as the heads of their respective families and have a very strong sense of self。 There was dancing, fights, foreign threats, hiding, A LOT of blood and killings, but everything was explained and made sense with the story and the characters。Full video review: https://bit。ly/3rMqBoy Being the longest novel in the series, this story was the most developed and intriguing in the series。 The main characters are A-type personalities and equally powerful。 Both share the same responsibilities as the heads of their respective families and have a very strong sense of self。 There was dancing, fights, foreign threats, hiding, A LOT of blood and killings, but everything was explained and made sense with the story and the characters。Full video review: https://bit。ly/3rMqBoy 。。。more

I really liked this one - Ramona and Matias were cool ass people and competent af。 The romance was pretty hot and the plot engaging, and I especially loved the ending。 And as usual, I really enjoy reading Ilona Andrews' type of scifi fantasy worldbuilding。 I really liked this one - Ramona and Matias were cool ass people and competent af。 The romance was pretty hot and the plot engaging, and I especially loved the ending。 And as usual, I really enjoy reading Ilona Andrews' type of scifi fantasy worldbuilding。 。。。more

This was my first Ilona Andrews book, and it was very good。 It was a quick read, so I don't have too much to say, other than the sci-fi action and plot was well thought out and executed。 The romance was a bit abrupt, but I think that was due to the short length of the book。 I liked it enough to maybe look at some other I。A。 books。 We will see。 This was my first Ilona Andrews book, and it was very good。 It was a quick read, so I don't have too much to say, other than the sci-fi action and plot was well thought out and executed。 The romance was a bit abrupt, but I think that was due to the short length of the book。 I liked it enough to maybe look at some other I。A。 books。 We will see。 。。。more

Reading an Ilona Andrews book is like being wrapped in a warm, cozy blanket。 The characters are smart and quick-witted, the world-building is thorough and engaging, and the romance and action NEVER fail。 So yeah, that was pretty much my experience with this one。Not sure how such a short book was able to fill all the action and tension that it did, but it did。 And the way these main leads literally comPLEMENT EACH OTHER I — 🥺🤭🥲🥲🥲🥲🥰 I love to see it。 The cover artist did a spectacular job。 Guess i Reading an Ilona Andrews book is like being wrapped in a warm, cozy blanket。 The characters are smart and quick-witted, the world-building is thorough and engaging, and the romance and action NEVER fail。 So yeah, that was pretty much my experience with this one。Not sure how such a short book was able to fill all the action and tension that it did, but it did。 And the way these main leads literally comPLEMENT EACH OTHER I — 🥺🤭🥲🥲🥲🥲🥰 I love to see it。 The cover artist did a spectacular job。 Guess it’s time to pick up the rest of this series。 Even though the stories are on the shorter side, I just know they’ll be good。 。。。more

Exciting, Endearing, and Fun Adventure RomanceI don’t know why this book hasn’t gotten more love, I thought it was wonderful。 Along the lines of the Hidden Legacies series by the same authors, but with a sci-fi twist。 Short, but very sweet! I want to enter this world again and follow these characters through the universes they inhabit to see what battles they fight for the sake of love and humanity!
